Frequently Asked Questions

I know you’re thinking it (and some of you have already asked), so I’m here to answer all your lingering questions!

Q: What types or styles of classes do you offer?

A: We offer small group classes on the Reformer and Tower apparatus (a fancy name for equipment). At first sight, the equipment can look like medieval torture devices, but you’ll quickly feel the support and resistance they offer.

Tower: The Pilates Tower Class combines mat work with tower equipment, including arm springs, leg springs, a roll-down bar, and a push-through bar, providing a comprehensive and effective way to stabilize, align, and strengthen your body. This class is designed to leave you feeling strong, flexible, balanced, and rejuvenated. This class can accommodate 5-6 students per class.

Reformer: The Universal Reformer is perhaps the most well-known piece of Pilates equipment. These classes aim to build strength, stamina, coordination, and confidence. They are excellent for both beginners and long-time practitioners. The Reformer apparatus promotes length, strength, flexibility, and balance in an efficient small-group setting. This class can accommodate 3-4 students per class.

(For my visual learners, this tower short and reformer short on YouTube is a good example of what to expect).

Q:Are they suitable for beginners?

A: Yes, barring any significant injuries or mobility limitations, any of the level 1 classes are suitable for beginners and more seasoned practitioners alike. If you have any significant injuries or mobility issues, please reach out for a complimentary consultation to assess your needs.

Q: Where can I see all the current classes available on the schedule and/or how often can I come in to take classes?

A: You can view the schedule and register for the classes here. We offer drop-in rates for the casual practitioner as well as membership packages for those who want to come several times a week. Click here for a step-by-step tutorial for booking your classes.

Q: What times are your classes?

A: As we have just opened, the current schedule is tentative. We aim to offer plenty of classes to work around your schedule whether you’re an early bird, or want to swing by after work. You can find our initial schedule here.

Don’t see a class time that works for you? Suggestions are also welcome! The goal is to eventually have class offerings daily.

Q: What is a membership?

A: Thrive Pilates offers memberships in order to build community, to help you commit to yourself and build consistency so you can reach your goals. We offer two terms: a 3-month and 12-month membership term both with options for 4, 8 and 12 classes per month. So whether you want to come once, twice or three times a week, we have an option for you. Memberships allow the studio to offer classes at a discount to those who are committed to coming on a regular basis. Membership also has other perks like priority booking, referral bonuses and more.

Q: Do I have to purchase a membership to attend classes?

A: No, we offer a casual/drop-in rate for classes and private sessions as well as a 10-class pack (class packs must be used within 3 months of purchase).

Q: What are your qualifications?

A: My training includes a Yoga Alliance 200-Hour Certification from O2 Yoga, Children’s Yoga Basics Certification from Childlight Yoga, Prenatal Yoga Certification from Still Point Healing, Barre Boston Certification from Endurance Pilates and Yoga, and 1000-Hour Comprehensive Classical Pilates training from Endurance Pilates and Yoga. Note, while there is no legal license required to teach most types of fitness, (Pilates included) I hold myself to the highest standards and never consider myself "finished" learning. I consistently participate in continuing education to continue to offer a high level of specialized instruction.
